Oakland police on Wednesday released photos of the white Mini Cooper they suspect was used in the fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a 100-year-old pedestrian near Lake Merritt over the weekend. Investigators have not identified the driver of a tan or white Mini Cooper involved in the fatal hit-and-run that struck centenarian Tzu-Ta Ko just after 7 a.m. near Oakland’s 19th and Harrison streets. Ko suffered severe head trauma from the crash and later died of his injuries. Police on Wednesday offered a reward for help finding the Mini Cooper allegedly used in the fatal hit-and-run. Crime Stoppers of Oakland is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to the driver’s arrest. It was unclear whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the hit-and-run, police said. Everett and Jones, a beloved family-owned Oakland barbecue restaurant on Broadway, was hit with two burglaries on successive nights last week. The first burglary happened around 3:30 a.m. last Monday. A window by the restaurant’s side door was broken, and the thief went through the store, kicked in the office door and took a power saw to the door of the safe, said co-owner Nina Moore, who was able to record it on video. “He tried to saw through the safe. We saw the sparks on the video,” she said Sunday. Unable to access the safe, the thief took a cash box and a smaller safe containing a few thousand dollars, and ran out, she said. Police arrived at the restaurant, on the 100 block of Broadway, to find that the thief had fled. Moore said the burglar had been in the store for about five minutes. Gulfport Police Department found Andrea Kerins’ children inside a mini-bus parked outside a beach parking lot in Florida around 4:42 a.m., as per official statement on its website, Dec 14. The children told the officer in patrol that Kerins left around 9:00 p.m. to go out on a boat. Woman posing as Child Protection worker ‘snatches 3-week old baby’ from home
A woman turned up to a home posing as a Child Protection worker and allegedly snatched a 3-week old baby from its mum. Sapphire McDougleh, 31, turned up to a house in Canton, Ohio, US, on Thursday morning wearing a name badge and asked questions about the baby's condition. She claimed she worked for Child Protection Services and was instructed to check up on the newborn baby - but Sapphire allegedly took off with the baby girl. The mum, who has not been named, had not been informed she was under child protection services and frantically called police after he child was snatched from her. She contacted CPS who told her the woman did not work for them - and her family was not being investigated. The mum immediately phoned cops. Toddler screams as coyote mauls him on driveway while distracted mum unloads car
Ring doorbell footage captured the terrifying moment a toddler started to scream in terror as a coyote mauled on the driveway of his home. The incident happened just seconds after the 21-month-old boy's mum told him to get inside as she carried bags through the front door. Surgeon Kelly Pirozzi, from Arizona, US , had her back turned for a mere few seconds when the animal knocked her son down and bit him in footage captured on Wednesday afternoon (March 22). Man dies of gunshot wounds in East Oakland early Sunday
Police found the victim of an apparent homicide early Sunday near Interstate 580 in East Oakland. Officers responding to a ShotSpotter activation at around 3 a.m. found a man with a gunshot wound on the 1200 block of East 34th Street, near 13th Avenue. He later died of his injuries. Police declined to identify the victim pending notification of next of kin or release any other information. KTVU reported that the victim was a 23-year-old Stockton man. The 1200 block of East 34th Street is a residential neighborhood off Park Boulevard, bordering the Cleveland Heights and Bella Vista neighborhoods.
