A qualifying session that started badly for Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves ended on a high as Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz took his first-ever pole position at the British Grand Prix. The star of John Wick and The Matrix is a big motorsport fan and is at Silverstone as part of a fact-finding mission. Reeves is making a documentary about the Brawn GP team, which famously won the F1 title with Jenson Button in 2009, having almost gone out of business when Honda pulled out of the sport the previous year. The 57-year-old has been spotted all over the paddock and is being hosted by Ross Brawn, F1’s managing director, who saved and then led the Brawn team during that 2009 season before it was bought by Mercedes. How a Celebration of Go-Go Music Became a Scapegoat For Violence in D.C.
Click here to read the full article. On a warm afternoon in June, crowds in Northwest D.C. celebrated Juneteenth by filling the air with the sounds of drums, toms, and voices, singing throughout the streets. I’m speed walking to catch my train home in order to spend the last few hours of Father’s day with my dad , himself a drummer, who just lost his oldest child and only son, my brother, unexpectedly that Monday. I zoom past the National Museum of African American History and Culture, where I’d spent part of my morning with Pharrell , recapping his second Something In The Water festival, which took place the same weekend. Despite being pressed for time, a sound distinct to the area brings me to a sudden halt: A crowd is dancing to live go-go. Here, t he rich history and culture that museums and music festivals hoped to cultivate played out in real-time. I wonder, briefly, if should just catch a different train and get home a little later. I choose my dad, but … [Read more...] about How a Celebration of Go-Go Music Became a Scapegoat For Violence in D.C.

Which Chicago Cubs players are likely to get traded? Here’s where things stand with the deadline 1 month away.
Chicago Cubs closer David Robertson knows what awaits the next four weeks. Robertson, in his 14th big-league season, has been on the move ahead of the trade deadline once before and has seen plenty of teammates come and go during this month throughout the years. With the Aug. 2 trade deadline a month away, the Cubs will again be sellers. Robertson, who does not have trade protections in his contract, is expected to be on the move. “That’s the way it goes,” Robertson told the Tribune this week. “You never know how many people you’re going to run through in a season. The trade stuff is above my pay grade. It’s uncontrollable for me. So, I don’t know. I haven’t heard anything yet.” Robertson likely won’t be the only Cub jettisoned by Aug. 2. The clubhouse will look different four weeks from now, a familiar position after one-third of the 2021 opening day roster was dealt before last year’s trade deadline. Trade talks will heat up in the coming weeks. With that in mind, here’s … [Read more...] about Which Chicago Cubs players are likely to get traded?
