Scouting geniuses Benfica rack up £1billion in sales – including Premier League stars
Benfica have sensationally amassed £1bn in player sales since 2010, including a host of fully-fledged Premier League icons. The Argentina international, 22, signed for Benfica just six months ago for a mere £10m, marking an instant £97m profit and another massive tick for Aguias' scouting department. In making the switch to west London, Fernandez becomes the latest in a long line of former Benfica stars to don the royal blue, following the likes of David Luiz, Ramires, Nemanja Matic and Joao Felix to Stamford Bridge - though Graham Potter will be hoping Fernandez's debut fares much better than the on-loan Atletico Madrid man. Tottenham forced to waive part of Marcus Edwards sell-on clause in Pedro Porro transfer which could cost them MILLIONS
TOTTENHAM had to surrender millions out of Marcus Edwards' sell-on clause to Sporting Lisbon in order to sign Pedro Porro in January. Spurs sold Edwards in 2019 to Vitoria Guimaraes who then shipped him to Sporting last year. The Prem outfit decided to forgo their 50 per cent sell-on clause with Vitoria, who sold him for £9million, and carry it over to Lisbon where he's worth five times that amount. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, however, the North Londoners had to waive off 15 per cent of the winger's rights to land Porro . That means Antonio Conte's side now has a 35 per cent sell-on clause, with many European teams keeping tabs on the 24-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window. The former England youth international's Sporting release clause costs £52million, which means Tottenham would get £7.8m less if he's sold for that price. How Man Utd lined up last time they won 12 home games in a row as Erik ten Hag turns Old Trafford into fortress again
MAN UTD'S 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening was their 12th home victory in a row in all competitions. It is a run that has seen Erik ten Hag 's men move into the top four in the Premier League table, reach the fifth round of the FA Cup and the final of the Carabao Cup. But more than that, it is a feat that the Red Devils have not achieved since Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge more than a decade ago. The last time Man Utd won 12 or more home matches on the spin during a single season was a run of form from December 2010 to May 2011. Ferguson's side put together a tremendous streak of 17 WINS at Old Trafford as they reclaimed the Premier League title and reached the final of the Champions League . It carried on into the following campaign as they won three more home games in the 2011/12 season, before a 3-3 draw with Basel ended the sequence. How Wolves nearly signed Enzo Fernandez for just £17m transfer fee less than year before Chelsea paid £107m
WOLVES nearly signed Enzo Fernandez for just £17million - just seven months before his £107m Chelsea transfer. The Argentine World Cup winner completed his British-record move from Benfica to Stamford Bridge on deadline day this week. The Blues smashed the previous record held by Manchester City when they paid £100m for Aston Villa in 2021. However, Fernandez could have been lining up in the Premier League from the beginning of the season - up the M40 at Molineux. As reported by talkSPORT's Alex Crook , Wolves were "very close" to landing Fernandez from River Plate in a bargain £17m transfer. In the end, the deal did not get over the line and Benfica picked the midfielder up for an initial £9m plus add-ons - inserting a whopping £107m release clause in his contract, although savvy River Plate pocket £26.5m of that. The 22-year-old linked up with the Portuguese giants after his boyhood club were knocked out of the Copa Libertadores and he continued his … [Read more...] about How Wolves nearly signed Enzo Fernandez for just £17m transfer fee less than year before Chelsea paid £107m
