Around a third of all adults in the UK are living with high blood pressure - also known as hypertension. Fortunately, there's a number of things you can do to bring it down - with simple changes often proving the most effective. A diet high in salt (or sodium) can raise blood pressure, leading to an increased risk of heart disease and stroke. Obvious things such as not sprinkling it all over your meals is a good place to start, but really you need to limit those foods that contain deceptively high amounts of sodium in the first place. New drug combination could give prostate cancer patients months of extra life and revolutionise treatment
A new drug combination could give prostate cancer patients months of extra life and revolutionise treatment. The usual procedure when the disease has spread is to fight tumours with drugs that block testosterone. In aggressive cases, however, this hormone therapy can cease to be effective. According to The Mirror , scientists have added olaparib - a DNA repair enzyme blocker in cancer cells - to the testosterone stopper abiratone. After a trial involving 800 men, the combination was found to prolong the life of stage 4 patients by an average of 7.4 months compared with abiratone on its own. People are only just realising why some farts feel warmer than others
Ever farted and wondered why it felt warmer than previous wind? Well, fear not. A professor explained why our flatulence can differ in 'temperature' and shared the reason behind why trumps might sound different. READ MORE: 'I'm proud to flaunt my stoma bag but TikTok keeps labelling my videos as sexual' While passing wind is one of the more taboo subjects, getting well acquainted with your farts is rather important. As a typical person breaks wind between five and 15 times a day, you're bound to have a wide range of squeaks and sounds coming from your bottom. And the temperature of your pop-off is one to keep an eye on. Lisa Ganjhu, DO, clinical associate professor in the Division of Gastroenterology at NYU Langone Health, noted that farts can feel ‘hot’ as they exit the body. However, this is more to do with perception rather than a temperature change. "Everything is based on your body temperature," the professor explained to Men's Health. Microsoft Hololens 2 MIT Upgrade Lets You See Through Walls
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology installed a program in a Microsoft Hololens 2 so that it could give people “x-ray vision.” You know, one of Superman’s abilities (sort of)! The MIT upgrade lets wearers see objects with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags obstructed by solid objects. As a result, the technology could expand the real-life applications of augmented reality. For example, it could help retailers locate warehouse goods quickly. How does the Microsoft Hololens 2 use “x-ray vision?” Photo Credit: mixed-news.com The MIT researchers named their technology X-AR, which uses wireless signals and computer vision to let people see things invisible to the naked eye. It combines “high-tech antennas, wireless signal processing algorithms, and AI-based fusion of different sensors.“ The AR-conformal wide-band antenna provides the Microsoft Hololens 2 with Radio Frequency (RF) sensing features.
