An Irish tourist is in hospital after falling three floors from a four-star hotel in the Majorcan party resort of Santa Ponsa. The 20-year-old Irishman was in serious' condition with head injuries following his fall from the third floor of the four-star TRH Jardin del Mar Beach Hotel. Emergency services took the man to Son Espases Hospital in the island capital after the alarm was raised just after 4.30 Saturday morning when responders found him at the back of the hotel in a gap between the hotel building and a small wall. It’s the kind of decline, driven by the pandemic, not seen in decades, data from the state health department show. The average life expectancy for Colorado residents fell to 78 years in 2021. That’s slightly lower than 2020, the first year of the pandemic when it was 78.4 years, but the slide represents a persistent and significant drop of nearly three years compared to 2019. “The last time life expectancy dropped like this was in 1943, which was the most fatal year of World War II, for the nation,” said Dr. Eric France, the state’s chief medical officer. “It is tragic that we see life expectancy drop. Death rates increased by 20 percent.” Key drivers for the decline were COVID-19 and overdose deaths. The data vary by demographic group. A drugged-up driver tried to rape a woman at the scene of a motorway crash that he caused, before also assaulting people who came to help. Jason Holmes, 33, from Scunthorpe, strangled his victim on the embankment beside the crash until she passed out, then removing her clothes and attempting to rape her.
