Hotel Review: Kimpton Fitzroy In London

· October 3, 2019 ·

Reviews : Accommodation We've Been HereKimpton FitzroyLocation: United KingdomRelated: LondonI was rather excited to stay at the Kimpton Fitzroy in London, mainly because I’d taken a sneak peek at Instagram, not even their Instagram just a search, and had stumbled across an outpouring of gorgeous-ness, of British glamour and quirky details, and couldn’t wait to indulge. Suffice to say it didn’t let me down. Why We Love This HotelIgnoring for a second, the fact that the location is pretty perfect, this hotel wins for me both because of the stunning style that is tucked around every corner and also because of the wonderful British service. Plus, I adore when a hotel has a restaurant or bar that I fall in love with; well the Kimpton Fitzroy has FOUR!! Yes, four drinking and dining venues that are now firmly on my must-return-to list whenever I’m in London.LocationThe hotel is located right on Russell Square in Bloomsbury, known as the literary heart of London. Just … [Read more...] about Hotel Review: Kimpton Fitzroy In London

Lux Hotel Review: Belmond La Residencia, Mallorca

· October 7, 2019 ·

Looking for luxury Majorca Holidays? Belmond La Residencia in Deia is one of Mallorca’s leading hotels On this trip, I discovered one of the most special hotels I have had the pleasure of staying at: the stunning Belmond La Residencia. My love for Mallorca is very well documented in this blog. It is an island I have visited over 20 times (I kid you not) and I try to make a special effort to return every year. Why? Because I still feel I haven’t scratched its surface – there is always something more to see or do (or not do at all) in the largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands. The hotel is very well known, as it was previously owned by Richard Branson. It is located in Deia, in the north-west coast of Mallorca (around 45 mins from Palma de Mallorca, the island’s capital). This little town is very special as it is a UNESCO World Heritage village, at the heart of the Tramuntana mountain range. As you can probably gather, the setting is quite … [Read more...] about Lux Hotel Review: Belmond La Residencia, Mallorca

My Easy Love for Bremen, Germany in 5 Moments

· October 2, 2019 ·

I recently had the great opportunity to revisit one of my favorite cities in Germany, and one that is perennially underrated, Bremen. Perhaps best known for their link to the famous fairy tale the Town Musicians of Bremen, over two visits I’ve learned that there are many other reasons to love spending time in this remarkable city. Bremen has a very unique personality, one that is completely unlike any other city I’ve visited and I confess that I have absolutely fallen under its spell. Best when combined with a longer trip exploring Northern Germany, today I want to share a few reasons why spending two or three days visiting Bremen should absolutely be near the top of your travel to-do list. Vibrant History Bremen has been a rich and powerful city for a very long time, and that history is seen throughout the city. Most notably it’s hard to miss the city’s UNESCO World Heritage sites, Bremen City Hall and the statue of Roland. Recognized by UNESCO for its … [Read more...] about My Easy Love for Bremen, Germany in 5 Moments

Newsletter: Vegas Escapes: You can chill in Vegas

· July 26, 2018 ·

Welcome to the new look of the still-new Vegas Escapes newsletter. I’m Catharine Hamm, the travel editor for the Los Angeles Times, and in the interest of full disclosure, I love Las Vegas.Even when it’s hot. Maybe especially when it is.We SoCal folks know hot, right? Of course we do, and we don’t much like it. So I say to escape the heat, go to Vegas.Sure, it’s expected to be 15 degrees warmer there this weekend, but air conditioning is a way of life for this Mojave Desert city. Heat’s just not an issue as long as you enjoy the great indoors. And it is great. No wonder Elvis is said to have uttered, “Man, I really like Las Vegas.” We have some stories this week that will show you why 42 million people a year, more than a quarter of them from Southern California, like it too. Especially on Sundays. Even though National Tequila Day has passed. And often when Sasquatch is involved.—Catharine HammTEQUILA!Think of caramel, chocolate, citrus, … [Read more...] about Newsletter: Vegas Escapes: You can chill in Vegas
