Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski reportedly will not play in Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Gronkowski, who is dealing with back and ankle injuries, also missed New England’s games against the Chicago Bears on Oct. 21 and the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 4. The Patriots are “taking the smart, cautious approach,” per Rapoport, and using their Week 11 bye to their advantage. New England’s final six games of the season are against the New York Jets (Weeks 12 and 17), Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Buffalo Bills. ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported Saturday afternoon he also expects Gronkowski to miss the 1 p.m. game against the Titans, but he noted that Gronkowski still traveled with the team. Gronkowski is officially listed as questionable, and his game status won’t be revealed until coach Bill Belichick makes the final decision 90 minutes before kickoff. … [Read more...] about Rob Gronkowski reportedly won’t play against the Titans
Rob Gronkowski says his underwhelming 2018 season has been tougher than most. “It’s been more challenging” the Patriots tight end told reporters in the locker room Friday afternoon, after being asked if the season had been difficult. “But I mean, it’s just a little obstacles in the way,'” he said. “It’s life — you gotta take them on. That’s what I’m doing, and just got to get back to where I need to be and be myself when I get back.” Gronkowski missed two of the last three Patriots games and has been limited since Week 3 with somewhat mysterious ankle and back injuries. In seven games, the All-Pro tight end has just 29 catches for 448 yards and one touchdown. He admitted that the season has been hard to watch at times. “Ah, nah. I mean, sometimes,” Gronkowski said. “But I mean, it’s going good.” The smiling 6-foot-6 tight end otherwise projected nothing but positivity Friday, answering … [Read more...] about Rob Gronkowski says the 2018 season has been ‘more challenging’
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has been experiencing an extended stay on the injury report — a concerning detail in his puzzling start to the 2018 season. Though he has experienced flashes of success, Gronkowski has been limited to just one touchdown this season and has missed two games due to ankle and back woes. With rumors of retirement and unrest still lingering from last season, many are left wondering if things are copacetic with the four-time first-team All-Pro selection. Here’s what we know about the situation: A timeline of Gronkowski’s status: Gronkowski first popped up on the injury report in Week 3, two days before the Patriots’ matchup against the Detroit Lions. He was limited in one practice with an ankle injury but returned to full participation the following day and was removed from the injury report. Against the Lions, Gronkowski was on the field for 100 percent of New England’s offensive snaps; he caught four passes on five targets for … [Read more...] about What’s going on with Rob Gronkowski?
The Celtics gave the Bucks their first loss of the season on Thursday night at TD Garden, triumphing 117-113. Boston set a team record for most three-pointers in a game, with 24. Elsewhere, the Bruins head to Nashville to face the Predators on Saturday, and the Patriots welcome the Packers on Sunday night. Rob Gronkowski is “not right,” according to a former Patriots executive: Gronkowski wasn’t seen at Patriots practice Thursday, which potentially is an indication that he’s still dealing with an injury. But even before then, a former team assistant had a blunt assessment. Mike Lombardi, the former Browns general manager who worked with the Patriots as an “assistant to the coaching staff” from 2014-2016, sounded off on Gronkowski in a recent episode of his podcast, “GM Street.” “And look, I’ve said it on the podcast before: You can watch the tape, study the tape, I think Gronk’s a great player,” Lombardi said. … [Read more...] about Morning sports update: Mike Lombardi said Rob Gronkowski is ‘not right’
After Aaron Gouveia posted a series of tweets last week about his 5-year-old son, Sam, getting teased by classmates for painting his nails red, his family received an influx of encouraging messages from people around the country, many of whom performed acts of solidarity to show their support. Debra Messing shared Gouveia’s story with her Twitter followers, flagging it as a must-read thread; Former New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett sent words of encouragement to Sam; and Tara Strong, who voices characters in popular children’s cartoons, reached out directly. Gouveia, who lives in Franklin with his wife and three sons, was floored by the response. “I can’t even keep up, honestly,’’ he said of all the feedback his son received. But then, on Saturday, almost a week after Gouveia first shared on social media what had happened to Sam at school, a response arrived on Twitter that caused him to do a double-take: New England Patriots star … [Read more...] about Rob Gronkowski and the Patriots respond to Franklin boy teased for painting his nails
