More info Vladimir Putin is trying to frame his country’s invasion of Ukraine as a “holy war”, aided and abetted by Patriarch Kirill, the controversial head of the Russian Orthodox church , a Russian history expert has claimed. Dr Katherine Kelaidis believes the Russian President is attempting to portray himself as a “martyr” in a bid to win support from far-right elements globally - as well as undermine faith in western institutions such as the International Criminal Court, which issued an arrest warrant for him earlier this month. Vladimir Putin sends tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus on the border with Nato in major escalation of Ukraine tensions

March 26, 2023 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

VLADIMIR Putin is sending tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus on the border with Nato, in a major escalation of tensions over Ukraine. The Russian President today claimed it will not violate non-proliferation agreements, after the two countries struck a deal. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko had long raised the issue of stationing tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, which borders Poland , Putin told state television. "There is nothing unusual here either: firstly, the United States has been doing this for decades. They have long deployed their tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of their allied countries," he said. "We agreed that we will do the same - without violating our obligations, I emphasise, without violating our international obligations on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons ." Russia will have completed the construction of a storage facility for tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus by July 1, Putin said, adding that Moscow … [Read more...] about Vladimir Putin sends tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus on the border with Nato in major escalation of Ukraine tensions

Ukraine must defeat Putin or every Nato country is at risk from Russia, warns top soldier on Brit war games

February 9, 2023 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

UKRAINE must defeat Vladimir Putin or every Nato country could face the wrath of Russia, a top soldier has warned. Estonian colonel Andrus Merilo issued the chilling message as he spoke on the sidelines of Nato war games just 80 miles from Russia . The icy exercises are an annual event – but have taken on a sinister new importance since Putin attacked Ukraine almost a year ago on February 24. With the spectre of the conflict hanging over them, the soldiers from Britain, Estonia, France, and Denmark are all united and dutifully carrying out their drills . Speaking to The Sun Online as his forces carried out intense trench warfare exercises, Colonel Merilo described the herculean effort by the Ukrainians against Putin as a "small miracle". Russia is just a stone's throw away from the training ground, and the Estonian troops are constantly aware of the possible threat posed by an increasingly belligerent Putin . Putin’s top ally warns of ‘MONSTROUS’ nuclear war between the US & Russia – and he doesn’t know who would win

March 24, 2023 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

A CLOSE ally of Vladimir Putin has warned of a “monstrous” nuclear war between the US and Russia. Dmitry Medvedev, who was himself also president of Russia , said he wasn’t sure who’d win a conflict between the two nuclear armed powers. Medvedev is seen as Mad Vlad’s 'yes man' and often makes blood curdling threats against the West. Now he’s warned of the “monstrous” consequences of nuclear in which it would be “impossible to say which army was the first and which second”. Medvedev went on to claim Russia was fighting for his survival against NATO and demanded a “sanitary cordon” up to 60 miles deep around its territory. Tensions between Russia and the US have been rising after Kremlin jets brought down an American drone with both sides displaying nuclear bombers in shows of strength. Putin wants to seize Belarus next despite Ukraine disaster – but we’ll never bow to Vlad, says exiled opposition leader

March 9, 2023 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

VLADIMIR Putin has his eyes on Belarus - but its people won't go down without a fight and they will never bow down to Russia, the country's exiled opposition leader has vowed. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya sat down with The Sun Online as she gave a defiant message to Minsk and Moscow . This week the English teacher turned opposition leader was sentenced in absentia to 15 years in a prison camp after she ran for president against Putin's puppet leader Alexander Lukashenko . It was an election rife with fraud - with Lukashenko declaring himself the winner with 80 per cent of the vote - and that sparked an uprising as Tsikhanouskaya was forced to flee Belarus. When asked if she had anything to say to Lukashenko regarding her prison sentence, she was brief. Tsikhanouskaya said: "I have nothing to say to this person. He doesn’t care about our country. He doesn’t care about people. He takes care only of his own power." Ukraine’s Avdiivka becoming ‘post-apocalyptic’, city shuts down, official says

March 27, 2023 by e.vnexpress.net Leave a Comment

Some 2,000 civilians are left in Avdiivka, a Donetsk region city some 90 kilometers (56 miles) southwest of the besieged Bakhmut, according to officials. The city had a pre-war population of more than 30,000. "I am sad to say this, but Avdiivka is becoming more and more like a place from post-apocalyptic movies," the city's military administration head Vitaliy Barabash said on the Telegram messaging app. The evacuation of the utility workers that were still left in the city has begun and mobile reception will be turned off soon, "because there are informers of the Russian occupiers in the city," Barabash added. With Russian forces making recent gradual gains on the flanks of Avdiivka, the Ukrainian military warned last week that the city could become a "second Bakhmut" - where months-long fierce fighting has turned the town into rubble. On Sunday, Russian shelling targeted two high-rise buildings in Avdiivka, which is just 10 km from the northern outskirts of the city of … [Read more...] about Ukraine’s Avdiivka becoming ‘post-apocalyptic’, city shuts down, official says

Ukraine gets better wargear from us than British Army has, fumes Armed Forces Minister

March 26, 2023 by www.dailystar.co.uk Leave a Comment

Our armed forces minister is absolutely livid, as he believes the UK is providing Ukraine with a higher standard of military kit than it is to our own troops. On March 23, a furious James Heappey refused to pull any punches as he laid into the current situation. He told Times Radio: “I find it nuts that I can procure stuff at speed for the Ukrainian armed forces that make them, in some cases, more sophisticated in their sensors and more lethal in their munitions than the UK is. READ MORE: Brit soldier fighting in Ukraine tells how he 'pumped Russian full of lead' “We’ve seen the speed with which we can make a difference for Ukraine. "So why on earth wouldn’t we want to do that for our own armed forces?” As per The Sun, the UK has gone above and beyond to support their ally, giving them a squad of challenger tanks, 200 armoured vehicles, 200,000 artillery rounds and 10,000 anti-tank missiles. Consequently, to make up for all the stock sent out, our military … [Read more...] about Ukraine gets better wargear from us than British Army has, fumes Armed Forces Minister
