Most bosses want staff back in the office rather than working from home, says business chief

January 27, 2023 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

MOST bosses want staff back in the office rather than working from home, a business chief says. Companies have put up with workers only going in on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday — if at all. And Tony Danker, the director general of the Confederation of British Industry, said the world of work had “gone crazy” since the pandemic . Mr Danker, whose group represents 190,000 businesses, told a BBC podcast: “You ask most bosses — everybody secretly wants everyone to come back into the office. “I just don’t think that’s going to happen overnight. I think we are all coping with this but we’re going to be talking about this for a few years.” Around 38 per cent of workers are still doing so from home, according to official figures. (AP) — The nation and the city of Memphis struggled to come to grips Saturday with video showing police pummeling Tyre Nichols — footage that left many unanswered questions about the traffic stop involving the Black motorist and about other law enforcement officers who stood by as he lay motionless on the pavement. IT was the news that left the whole of Britain feeling on top of the world on the Queen’s Coronation day. As millions packed the streets of London to see young Queen Elizabeth crowned , it was announced that mountaineers Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay had become the first to conquer Everest . Now, 70 years later, a wounded war hero has a date with destiny to make history when King Charles is crowned in May. Hari Budha Magar had both legs blown off above the knee when he was a soldier in Afghanistan and a terrorist bomb exploded. Despite his terrible injuries, father-of-three Hari has set his sights on climbing Everest, the world’s highest mountain at 29,032ft, to coincide with the King’s Coronation . If he succeeds, ex-Gurkha Hari, 43, will become the first above-the-knee double-amputee to stand on the Himalayan summit. Asteroid 2022 GN1 ‘close approach’ LIVE – New Nasa space rock SOARS past Earth – watch stream live

April 6, 2022 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

A SCHOOLBUS-SIZED asteroid has made a very close approach to Earth Thursday night, according to space object trackers. Astronomers only spotted the near-Earth space rock 2022 GN1 a few days ahead of its head-turning flyby on Tuesday evening. Nasa has logged the 16-meter-long mass on its "close approach" online database , though it poses no danger to our planet. The asteroid soared past at a safe distance of around 79,000 miles (127,000 km). That may sound like a considerable gap but is remarkably close in space terms, as it is around a third of the space between Earth and the Moon. The Virtual Telescope Project, a set of robotic scopes in Italy, live-streamed Tuesday's flyby on its website . The live feed kicked off at 9pm ET on Tuesday.
