(AP) — The New York Giants have signed six of their 11 draft picks, including first-round selections, edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux of Oregon and tackle Evan Neal of Alabama. The Giants announced the signings Saturday after holding a rookie minicamp at their facility. All the draft picks attended the minicamp. The team also signed their three fifth-round selections — linebacker Micah McFadden of Indiana, defensive tackle D.J. Davidson of Arizona State and guard Marcus McKethan of North Carolina — plus sixth-round choice Darrian Beavers, a linebacker from Cincinnati. Thibodeaux had 123 tackles (82 solo), 35.5 tackles for loss, 19 sacks and three forced fumbles in three seasons in college. His best season was last year when he recorded a career-high 50 tackles, including 12 stops for loss and seven sacks. Neal … [Read more...] about Giants sign 6 draft picks, including two 1st-rounders

Mike Preston: At wide receiver, Ravens need the right player at the right price — with the right name | COMMENTARY
The Ravens should be looking for a wide receiver who has as much name recognition as production. One of the leading candidates appeared to be free-agent veteran Jarvis Landry, but he reportedly signed a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints on Friday. Landry’s skill set is comparable to second-year Ravens wideout Rashod Bateman, but the biggest difference is that Landry has been in the NFL since 2014 and has 688 career receptions for 7,598 yards. Bateman had 46 catches for 515 yards a year ago. Other than that, they are the same type of player. After the Ravens traded speedy wide receiver Marquise Brown to the Arizona Cardinals nearly two weeks ago on the first night of the NFL draft, they knew they had to find someone who could draw the attention of defensive coordinators when they focused on tight end Mark Andrews. Landry would have been the easiest fix. Now, the Ravens are forced to look elsewhere. There are other prominent free-agent receivers still available such … [Read more...] about Mike Preston: At wide receiver, Ravens need the right player at the right price — with the right name | COMMENTARY
Giants sign Kayvon Thibodeaux, Evan Neal; RB Jashaun Corbin stands out
Giants first-round picks Kayvon Thibodeaux and Evan Neal both signed their rookie contracts on Saturday after rookie minicamp practice. Their deals are determined by their draft slots. Thibodeaux gets four years and $31.3 million fully guaranteed as the No. 5 overall pick. Neal receives four years and $24.5 million fully guaranteed as the No. 7 overall pick. Both contracts come with a fifth-year team option for 2026. This is much earlier than the Giants typically sign their first-round picks. Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley and Andrew Thomas all signed in July of their respective draft years, and Kadarius Toney signed last June after a holdout. Thibodeaux and Neal are represented by the same agency, Klutch Sports Group. First-year GM Joe Schoen and the Giants front office, together with Klutch agents Kelton Crenshaw and Damarius Bilbo, made sure the Giants’ blue-chip draft picks were locked in early. This timeline may represent a new normal for the Giants under Schoen. “It … [Read more...] about Giants sign Kayvon Thibodeaux, Evan Neal; RB Jashaun Corbin stands out
Dolphins signing former Pro Bowl pass rusher Melvin Ingram
The Miami Dolphins aren’t done adding talent to the roster this offseason, and they just landed a three-time Pro Bowl pass rusher. Melving Ingram is signing with the Dolphins, according to a league source on Sunday. Ingram, who can play both defensive end and outside linebacker and visited Miami in April, has made his mark in the NFL over nine seasons with the Chargers but found a resurgence late last season with the Chiefs. At 33 years old, Ingram has 55 career sacks between regular season and postseason play since entering the league as a first-round pick in the 2012 draft. After consecutive Pro Bowl campaigns from 2017 to 2019, Ingram suffered multiple knee injuries in 2020 that cut his final year with the Chargers short and caused him to miss more than half the season. He signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of training camp in 2021, and the Steelers then traded him at the deadline to the Chiefs. In the second half of the 2021 season in Kansas … [Read more...] about Dolphins signing former Pro Bowl pass rusher Melvin Ingram
Ravens roundtable: Breaking down the toughest tests, best games and more in the 2022 schedule
The Ravens haven’t played a game since early January, haven’t won a game since late November and haven’t beaten a 2021 playoff team since mid-September. But with the release of the NFL’s 2022 schedule Thursday — and the expected return of a litany of injured starters — hope springs eternal in Baltimore. The Ravens, looking to return to the postseason after an 8-9 season, will open their slate with a four-game stretch against AFC East opponents and finish it with an AFC North-heavy itinerary. In between, they’ll face Super Bowl contenders and perennial also-rans. They’ll play games on Sunday, Monday, Thursday and maybe even Saturday. They’ll take on a division where Ben Roethlisberger and Baker Mayfield are no longer Lamar Jackson’s toughest competition at quarterback. Four months from the Ravens’ season opener, 2022 predictions are almost entirely speculative. But someone’s got to make them. Here’s how Baltimore Sun reporters Childs Walker and Jonas Shaffer and editor C.J. Doon … [Read more...] about Ravens roundtable: Breaking down the toughest tests, best games and more in the 2022 schedule
