STAMFORD, Conn. — More relatives of people shot to death at a Colorado supermarket in 2021 are suing gun-maker Sturm, Ruger & Co. over how it marketed the firearm used in the massacre, adding to litigation first filed earlier this month against the company. The lawsuit by relatives of five of the 10 people killed in Boulder was served on the company Thursday and is expected to be filed this week in Superior Court in Stamford, Connecticut, according to Andrew Garza, a lawyer for the plaintiffs. The son of a sixth victim sued the company on March 14. Both lawsuits accuse Sturm, Ruger & Co. of marketing its AR-556 pistol, which resembles a rifle, in a “reckless” and “immoral” way that promoted its killing capability and glorified lone gunmen. The lawsuits, which seek undisclosed damages, are expected to be consolidated into one case, Garza said. “We’re interested in pursuing justice for all the families and holding Ruger accountable,” Garza said Monday. Serial sperm donor broke pledge and ‘misled women’ by fathering ‘more than 550 babies’
A serial sperm donor who is thought to be the father of more than 550 children is to appear in court in April after being charged with misleading hundreds of women. Jonathan Jacob Meijer, 41, from the Netherlands, has caused outrage among mothers who were not aware of his prolific sperm donation. Medical professionals say the mental health of children can be compromised if they find out they have hundreds of half-siblings. His actions have led to authorities in the Netherlands updating the law so that donors can only donate sperm to up to 12 women. The Donorkind Foundation pushed for Meijer to be summoned to court after the Dutch Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology raised the alarm in 2017. NJ takes over Paterson police after crisis worker’s shooting
New Jersey's attorney general said Monday that his office has taken control of the police department in the state's third-largest city, Paterson, less than a month after officers there fatally shot a well-known crisis intervention worker during a tense standoff. Attorney General Matt Platkin said at a news conference that his office had assumed control of all police functions without delay, including the division that investigates internal police matters. His announcement didn't mention the shooting of 31-year-old Najee Seabrooks directly, but it reflected activists' concerns about how the department was being run. “There is a crisis of confidence in law enforcement in this city,” he said to brief cheers and calls of “Thank you” from the audience. “Something has to change, and it will change starting now. Earlier this morning, I exercised my authority as attorney general and superseded the Paterson Police Department.” Platkin said the takeover amounted to a “pledge” to residents … [Read more...] about NJ takes over Paterson police after crisis worker’s shooting

Vail Resorts plans to change the way skiers and snowboarders rent gear, including free delivery
Vail Resorts has plans to transform the way guests select and pick up rental gear with the creation of a unique program called My Epic Gear, revealing the concept in a news release on Monday. Users will be able to select the gear they want to rent through an app and it will be delivered to them if they are staying at lodging within a resort area. If not, they will be able to pick it up and drop it off via slopeside valet service, eliminating the need to stand in line at a ski shop. They also will be able to change their gear selections throughout the season, such as choosing skis specifically designed for skiing powder on days when fresh powder is anticipated. My Epic Gear won’t be fully available until the winter of 2024-25, but a “pilot season” next winter will make it an option for a “limited number” of Epic Pass holders at four of the company’s resorts, all in Colorado — Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail and Beaver Creek. When the program is launched for 2024-25, users will pay a … [Read more...] about Vail Resorts plans to change the way skiers and snowboarders rent gear, including free delivery

GM George Paton: WRs Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton “two young players in their prime,” that Broncos want to keep
PHOENIX — Denver general manager George Paton and head coach Sean Payton each painted a picture of the 2023 season at the NFL’s spring ownership meetings here Monday that included wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton catching passes for the Broncos. “We’re excited to have them on our football team, two young players in their prime,” Paton said, addressing rumors about one or both being traded this offseason. “I think Sean said it best: We’re not interested in trading them. When you’re in my position, you get a lot of calls and we’ve got calls on those players. We anticipate them being here and I can’t wait to see them in Sean’s offense with these coaches. Jerry (23) years old and the way he finished the season — last five games (was impressive). “Courtland played 15 games, had close to 900 yards, so to see these two receivers with Tim Patrick, with the others we’ve added, we’re excited to see where it’s going.” Payton cited what he considers to be a relatively weak … [Read more...] about GM George Paton: WRs Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton “two young players in their prime,” that Broncos want to keep
