Visitors in Da Nang (Source: VNA) Da Nang (VNA) - The central city of Da Nang welcomed 328,810 visitors during the nine-day Lunar New Year (Tet) festival 2019 (February 2 -10), a year-on-year increase of 10.7 percent. According to the municipal Department of Tourism, attractive sites included the Cham sculpture museum, Ba Na Hills, Da Nang Museum, Than Tai mineral water park, Sun World Da Nang and Son Tra - Linh Ung pagoda. The number of international visitors to Da Nang during Tet hit 158,328, up 19.9 percent compared to the same period last year. The Da Nang Museum has introduced a new logo, a multi-language interpretation system via mobile devices, and a data bank of the central city’s cultural heritage. To enhance its brand for better marketing, the logo is designed with a circle on the outside, representing the sky, and a square in the middle, which symbolizes the earth. The logo’s center is a stylized image of Dien Hai Citadel, surrounded by three modified letters of D, N, M, which stands for Da Nang Museum. The multi-language interpretation system, meanwhile, is the product of a cooperative effort between the museum, the city’s Department of Science and Technology, and Da Nang University, and aims to help visitors readily access detailed information of the exhibits via mobile devices. Around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, after drinking a few beers, Lei and a group of friends went deeper and deeper into dangerous waters at My Khe beach, three kilometers from the city center. Chairman of the city’s tourism association, Huynh Tan Vinh, said tourism also created 140,000 jobs for local and neighbouring employees – 25 per cent of the city’s labour force. Vinh said the unique landscape of coast, rivers and mountains as well as the nature reserves in Son Tra and Ba Na-Nui Chua lured 6.7 million tourists, of which 2.3 million were foreigners, to the city in 2017.
