By Jeff Faraudo | Bay Area News Group PUBLISHED: November 30, 2018 at 7:00 am | UPDATED: December 1, 2018 at 8:08 am BERKELEY — Big Game Week 2.0 gave Cal a few extra days to prepare for its 121st meeting with rival Stanford, but the Bears didn’t spend the time daydreaming about victory at Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Two weeks after the Big Game was postponed because of hazardous air quality, the Bears (7-4, 4-4 Pac-12) will take aim at the Cardinal (7-4, 5-3) and its eight-year win streak in the series. All week, it was pretty much business as usual for the Bears. “They understand the importance of the rivalry game. If we want that feeling, then we’ve … [Read more...] about The Big Game: How long has it been since Cal beat Stanford?
Jeff Seidel Detroit Free Press Published 7:18 PM EDT Nov 3, 2018 This is more than a revenge tour. The Michigan football team is playing mad and aggressive, determined and unrelenting. The Wolverines don’t just want to play — they want to demolish. They don’t just want to win – they want to decimate, which is what Michigan did on Saturday, routing Penn State, 42-7, in the Big House. A revenge tour? That might be underselling it. The Wolverines want to crush you and your family and everything in their path. The Wolverines seem to get better every week. They are getting nastier – in a good way. Their confidence and momentum keeps growing. But mostly, the Wolverines are getting healthier. Two players who have been hurt, defensive end Rashan Gary and wide receiver Tarik Black, returned for the Wolverines. Neither made a huge impact in this game (Black had a TD catch brought back by penalty) but that’s like a baseball team … [Read more...] about Michigan football is now clear favorite to win the Big Ten

Register for our free newsletterTHE Big Apple, the city of dreams, the city that never sleeps, and my personal favourite, the city so good they named it twice. Can a holiday destination with so many nicknames live up to expectations? Well, New York certainly does. And if you’ve ever wanted to walk the streets of what really does feel like a movie set then it’s time to book your flight. The taxi ride (in a yellow cab, of course) from the airport to your accommodation will fill your stomach with butterflies. Whether you arrive morning, noon or night, you’ll be blown away by that magical skyline, and the New Yorkers’ accents instantly filled me with joy. Yes, it’s loud and it’s crowded, but there’s nowhere in the world quite like it. At the core of the apple you have Manhattan, where many visitors choose to stay. Once in the city, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding on what to see and do. First on my list was the … [Read more...] about A New York state of mind: Make Friends with The Big Apple, a city that enchants
