Back when I was a kid, in the latchkey ’70s, there was a communal understanding that certain acts of low-level vandalism and bullying were going to transpire on Halloween. Eggs were going to be chucked. Pumpkins were going to be smashed. Doorbells were going to be rung then ditched. The scene is scary, for sure: Little kids are not a good fit (a good guide is 10 and older but also, know your child — and yourself!). The main haunt is set up in the resort’s former gym and the surrounding area.
