A Mini Irish Roadtrip
Updated: February 14, 2014 So after two happy and windblown days in Dingle, (which you can read about here and here), it was finally time to leave the peninsula to fly back home. The only problem was I wasn’t sure how to get off of the peninsula, considering most options were fairly pricey. Luckily, the night before I left, I met a local Irish guy named Ross and his group of friends at the pub. Meeting them was as they say, good craic, and after a boozy night out Ross offered to give me a ride across the peninsula. And who am I to turn down a free road trip with an Irish stranger? Our mini road trip in Ireland involved driving across Conor Pass, the highest mountain pass in Ireland and the most scenic road of the peninsula. As usual in Ireland, the weather was misty, rainy and cloudy. Michigan State’s Winston earns preseason Big 10 honors
Michigan State guard Cassius Winston is the unanimous pick for Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year.The vote by media announced Wednesday was hardly a surprise considering Winston was selected Big Ten Player of the Year last season. He averaged 18.8 points and 7.5 assists as a junior while leading the Spartans to the Big Ten regular-season and tournament championships and the Final Four.Maryland’s Anthony Cowan Jr. and Ohio State’s Kaleb Wesson were unanimous picks for the preseason all-conference team along with Winston. World War II-era bomber plane crashes outside Conn. airport
A World War II-era bomber plane, owned by a Stowe, Mass. non-profit organization, crashed at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut Wednesday morning, officials said. The Federal Aviation Administration tweeted that the vintage Boeing B-17 crashed at the end of Runway 6 while attempting to land at the airport in Windsor Locks, Conn., at 10 a.m. Wednesday. “It is a civilian registered aircraft, not flown by the military,” FAA officials said. “Local officials will release information about the people aboard. Officials have closed Bradley International Airport, and the FAA has put in a ground stop for flights that are destined for the airport.” Kathleen Bergen, a spokeswoman for the FAA, said the National Transportation Safety Board is in charge of the investigation.
