AN urgent health warning has been extended as freezing cold conditions have been forecast into the weekend. A level three cold weather alert has been extended now from Friday until Saturday by the UK Health Security Agency. Brits were today braced for more flooding . The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) extended the current level 3 cold weather alert until 12pm on Saturday 28 January. The Environment Agency has activated 33 flood alerts, meaning flooding is possible, and 13 flood warnings, meaning flooding is likely. The warnings cover areas including the Ebble Valley in Wiltshire and the Tarrant Valley in Dorset . Most of them are related to groundwater flooding, where the ground is so waterlogged that it cannot absorb any more and so the excess water floods the surface. It comes after heavy rain and freezing fog have blighted the country in recent weeks, giving groundwater no time to evaporate away. AN airport in the UK could reopen to flights more than a decade after it closed. Plymouth City Council leader Richard Bingley is backing a bid to reopen Plymouth Airport . The airport was closed after leaseholder Sutton Harbour Group (SHG) triggered a so-called “Armageddon clause” that allowed it to stop flights if it was deemed uneconomic. In Denver on Saturday there’s a 30% chance for snow after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service forecast . Skies will be partly sunny and the high temperature in the city will top out near 33 degrees. Little or no snow accumulation is expected. In the central and northern mountains on Saturday heavy bands of snow are expected in the afternoon, with rates of 1 inch per hour at times, according to the weather service. Snow will be heavier north of Interstate 70, especially in the Park and Gore ranges. Afternoon travel conditions could be hazardous. Snow is expected to decrease overnight. Moderate snow will continue in the mountains today and will become much lighter tonight. Barclays has announced the closure of 15 branches across the country - meaning over 100 banks are going to shut down so far this year. The bank is set to close 14 branches across England and one in Wales from late April to the first few days on May. Sites in London, Gosport, Bridgwater and St Helens are among those shutting down over just a few days. Barclays has already announced 15 closures earlier this month. It comes days after NatWest said it is closing 23 branches, and over a week since Lloyds Banking Group said it is shutting 40 Halifax and Lloyds sites. At the time the company blamed footfall, which has been rapidly decreasing since the onset of online banking and dropped further during the pandemic.
