AN urgent health warning has been extended as freezing cold conditions have been forecast into the weekend. A level three cold weather alert has been extended now from Friday until Saturday by the UK Health Security Agency. Brits were today braced for more flooding . The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) extended the current level 3 cold weather alert until 12pm on Saturday 28 January. The Environment Agency has activated 33 flood alerts, meaning flooding is possible, and 13 flood warnings, meaning flooding is likely. The warnings cover areas including the Ebble Valley in Wiltshire and the Tarrant Valley in Dorset . Most of them are related to groundwater flooding, where the ground is so waterlogged that it cannot absorb any more and so the excess water floods the surface. AS temperatures continue to sizzle across the UK this weekend, Brits have taken to the internet to share hilarious memes to sum up the heatwave. Britain is currently basking in an extended 30C heatwave, which has seen the nation bask in scorching weather, with Northern Ireland even issuing a hosepipe ban . The Met Office said the highest temperature on Friday was 32.5C (90.5F) in Porthmadog in north-west Wales and highs of 30C-31C (86F-87.8F) are expected on Saturday. This compares with average temperatures for the time of year of 17C (62.6F) in the north and 21C (69.8F) in the south, senior forecaster Marco Petagna said. However, rising temperatures have not put a curb on Brits' humour as many have taken to Twitter to lament the boiling weather. BRITS have been warned of a surge in norovirus cases in hospitals - which are twice as high as this time last year. NHS data shows 371 adult beds are filled by patients with the bug - up from 344 the week before. Professor Julian Redhead, clinical director of emergency care, said: "Bed occupancy [in hospitals] is still constrained, and illnesses like flu and norovirus are still a very real concern." Infections are 34 per cent higher than the five-season average and have surpassed pre- Covid levels, separate data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) shows.
