NEIGHBOURS in one of Britain's snootiest towns say rich newcomers are 'rude' and turn their noses up at them. They added that overpriced coffee shops are pricing them out and that outsiders are made to feel small. Morpeth in Northumberland was recently voted one of the UK's snootiest towns according to review site ILiveHere. James Gregson is from Stock Hill, a few miles north of Morpeth, and claims outsiders are made to feel small by locals. The 18-year-old IT college student said: "People here expect you to move out of their way, as if their time is more important than yours. "It's definitely snooty. People look down on you. They expect everyone to cater to them. UK hospital declares critical incident as A&E department ‘full’ amid ‘immense pressure’
A major UK hospital has declared a critical incident as its A&E department is completely “full” while it battles “immense pressure”. The Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan made the shocking announcement this evening as the hospital struggles amid current challenges to the NHS . The Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust warned that after “unprecedented attendances” the A&E department was “full”. On top of this, “growing pressures” on services further worsened the situation. A critical incident means the hospital can take additional action to ensure safe services are maintained as it deals with these increasing pressures. The trust added that it was facing “ongoing challenges” in discharging patients who are now well enough to leave hospital - a long standing problem facing the NHS. The three-acre site is now overgrown and strewn with battered fence panels and other debris. The wooden hoardings along the Paignton to Torquay road, opposite the entrance to Hollicombe Park and the path to the beach, are all cracked and peeling and covered in graffiti.
