Lined with homes and storefronts that opened up directly into the street, these alleyways were filled with scooter parking, lush potted trees, craft workshops, shrines wafting with incense smoke, and baskets of various things for sale. Cars, still a rarity in this city, occasionally snagged parking at alley entrances when they could. During the unexpected stunt that took place at the auditions, blindfolded judge Bruno Tonioli fired the weapon in Simon's direction and was tricked into thinking that he had hit him while on stage in Manchester. Although the prank was intended to cause surprise and also relief, it appears it hasn't gone down very well. Capt. Thurslie Castillo sustained stab wounds on his left leg, buttocks, and right elbow. Castillo led an operation against a Cara y Cruz/Hantog illegal gambling operation when the five arrested suspects resisted and grappled with him. Three of the suspects then drew bladed weapons and stabbed Castillo, leaving him with no other choice but to draw his firearm and defend himself, hitting three of the suspects.
