Five international sides banned from squaring off as ‘Europe’s bloodiest match’ kicks off

On Saturday evening, Armenia and Turkey will square off with one another in their Euro 2024 qualifier in a clash that goes beyond the confines of football. The sides have only played each twice since Armenia's independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 - during the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. “This is only a football game, it is not a war. We cannot carry the weight of history on our shoulders," Fatih Terim told press ahead of the game. However, the two countries have no diplomatic relationship, and their 193-mile land border is closed. Their rivalry stems from the refusal of Turkey to acknowledge a genocide against the Armenians predating the foundation of each country, and yet UEFA allows them to play each other. Some countries, however, are deemed too dangerous to face each other. Russia vs Ukraine Russia and Ukraine have been separated by UEFA since 2014 - when skirmishes of conflict broke out in the Donbas region of Ukraine. However, the two sides did clash in the … [Read more...] about Five international sides banned from squaring off as ‘Europe’s bloodiest match’ kicks off

close Video Sen. Barrasso opposes Senate's new AUMF proposal On 'America's Newsroom,' Republican lawmaker from Wyoming says President Trump had the full authority to strike Syria. The Senate is expected to vote this week on an amendment from Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., to establish a Senate-approved watchdog over the billions of dollars the U.S. has sent to Ukraine, as senators work their way toward the expected repeal of the 1991 and 2002 Iraq war authorizations. Hawley told Fox News Digital on Monday evening that the right person for the job would be "tough, tenacious," and said the ideal candidate would be similar to John Sopko, the current special inspector general for Afghanistan. "He's done a terrific job – maybe he'd like to do this job. I mean, he already knows how to do it. And that's winding down," Hawley said in reference to Sopko’s work on Afghanistan. "Maybe he'd like to shift over to Ukraine. I think that would probably be my first … [Read more...] about Sen. Hawley calls for ‘tough, tenacious’ inspector general to oversee Ukraine aid

close Video Trump invokes 5th Amendment in New York probe Fox News correspondent David Lee Miller has the latest on questioning from the NY attorney general's office over the investigation into Trump's family real estate business on 'Special Report.' Former President Trump said leaks indicate that he will be arrested on Tuesday after reports that the Manhattan District Attorney’s office is preparing to issue an indictment for alleged hush money payments made in the weeks leading up to the 2016 presidential election. But investigations and talk of possible charges are nothing new for Donald Trump. Trump's presidency was clouded by investigations — several probed whether he colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election, some focused on his finances, and others led to impeachment, making him the first president in United States history to have been impeached twice. Trump’s post-presidential life is reminiscent of his days in the Oval … [Read more...] about Trump targeted: A look at probes involving the former president; from Stormy Daniels to Russia to Mar-a-Lago
