Tiger Woods seals first win in five years with Tour Championship
Viet Nam News ATLANTA (AFP) - Tiger Woods scored his first victory in more than five years on Sunday, completing a two-shot win at the Tour Championship to crown a fairy tale comeback after a near two-year absence. Saturday’s golf: Tiger Woods closes in on first win since 2013
Associated Press Published 6:35 AM EDT Sep 23, 2018 Atlanta — Tiger Woods made it look and sound as if he had never been gone. More than turning back time, every hole seemed like the one before Saturday at the Tour Championship. A tee shot striped down the middle of the fairway. The clean strike of an iron as he held his pose. A sonic boom of the cheers from around the green. Another birdie. “I got off to an ideal start,” Woods said. “And the next thing you know, I was off and running.” With the most dynamic golf he has played all year, Woods built a five-shot lead in seven holes before he cooled from there, settled for a 5-under 65 that gave him a three-shot lead over Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose and an ideal chance to end this comeback season with a moment that has defined his career. Winning. TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP LEADERBOARD Woods has the 54-hole lead for the first time since his last victory in 2013 at the Bridgestone Invitational. Rocco Mediate expects Tiger Woods to win more majors
Ted Kulfan The Detroit News Published 10:33 p.m. UTC Aug 20, 2018 Grand Blanc — It’s a not matter of if, it’s a matter of when Tiger Woods will win again. And not just win a tournament — win a major. That’s the belief of Rocco Mediate, who lost to Woods in an epic 2008 U.S. Open playoff that remains a career highlight for the Greensburg, Pa. native. “I’m not surprised by anything he does,” said Mediate, who was in Grand Blanc on Monday for Media Day at The Ally Challenge Sept. 14-16 at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club. “I’m surprised he hasn’t won yet. “(But) he’s coming. He’s coming fast.” Woods, with 14 career majors, trails only Jack Nicklaus, who won 18 career major golf tournaments. Because of Woods’ long drought — that 2008 U.S. Open was Woods’ last major — there was much doubt Woods would catch Nicklaus. Mediate, though, feels Woods can definitely make a … [Read more...] about Rocco Mediate expects Tiger Woods to win more majors
