In a recent announcement, the northern province’s Department of Tourism listed 20 establishments within the core area of the complex that locals have illegally turned into hotels and guest houses. The Trang An Landscape Complex is a UNESCO world heritage site situated two hours by road to the south of Hanoi. It is known for its limestone peaks and valleys, many of which are partly submerged and surrounded by almost vertical cliffs. It is home to Hoa Lu, the capital of Vietnam in the 10th and 11th centuries. The place is also dotted with temples, pagodas, paddy fields, and small villages. According to the department's director, Bui Thanh Dong, the general plan for the complex approved by the prime minister in 2016 bans the establishment of lodgings in the core area of the complex. This decision was an important milestone in the history of urban development policy in Vietnam. But it also raised difficult questions on how to think about preservation going forward. The debate about the demolition of Thuong Tho Palace was a historic turning point for two reasons. First, it showed that many people in Vietnam were concerned about the possible disappearance of this magnificent building. The classic list featured seven wonders located in the Eastern Mediterranean. 1. Great Pyramid of Giza Built between 2584 BC and 2561 BC, the Great Pyramid of Giza is the only surviving ancient wonder. It is 230.4 metres wide at its base and 146.5 metres tall, and is the largest of three that sit beside the city of Giza, around 12 miles from Cairo.
