National Travel Advisor Day on May 1 is almost here, and the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is launching a toolkit to help members of the industry educate the traveling public, policymakers and the media on the value advisors provide to consumers and the overall travel industry. “Today’s travel advisors aren’t intermediaries,” said ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby in a written statement. “They are trusted advisors — akin to financial planners and CPAs — whose knowledge allows them to navigate a complex array of suppliers to maximize value for their clients. Virtuoso has selected OneTrust for its privacy program and marketing compliance initiatives, the privacy management software company announced. According to a statement from OneTrust, Virtuoso will leverage OneTrust's Assessment Automation (PIA/DPIAs), Data Mapping and Cookie Consent modules for GDPR, ePrivacy and global privacy regulation compliance. Virtuoso's business involves collecting or processing services that require the company to collect or process personal data of members and their clients. To build trust with data subjects and build a privacy program for the GDPR era, Virtuoso will use OneTrust's privacy management software solutions to continuously assess internal processes, mitigate risks and demonstrate compliance. One year after a historic hurricane season for the Caribbean, Virtuoso reports that winter bookings are up for the region. With 70 percent of the islands unaffected by last year’s busy hurricane season, and 90 percent of room inventory open in impacted regions, the islands are coming back, the luxury travel network reports.
