AN urgent health warning has been extended as freezing cold conditions have been forecast into the weekend. A level three cold weather alert has been extended now from Friday until Saturday by the UK Health Security Agency. Brits were today braced for more flooding . The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) extended the current level 3 cold weather alert until 12pm on Saturday 28 January. The Environment Agency has activated 33 flood alerts, meaning flooding is possible, and 13 flood warnings, meaning flooding is likely. The warnings cover areas including the Ebble Valley in Wiltshire and the Tarrant Valley in Dorset . Most of them are related to groundwater flooding, where the ground is so waterlogged that it cannot absorb any more and so the excess water floods the surface. It comes after heavy rain and freezing fog have blighted the country in recent weeks, giving groundwater no time to evaporate away. Denver weather: Arctic blast sweeping into city will bring frigid temps, some snow
An Arctic blast of weather is on the way with wind chill temperatures plunging below zero on Sunday and Monday in widespread areas. In Denver on Saturday there’s a 30% chance for snow after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service forecast . Skies will be partly sunny and the high temperature in the city will top out near 33 degrees. Little or no snow accumulation is expected. In the central and northern mountains on Saturday heavy bands of snow are expected in the afternoon, with rates of 1 inch per hour at times, according to the weather service. Snow will be heavier north of Interstate 70, especially in the Park and Gore ranges. Afternoon travel conditions could be hazardous. Snow is expected to decrease overnight. Moderate snow will continue in the mountains today and will become much lighter tonight. Snow will pick back up tomorrow and will last into Monday with another foot of snow possible in Park and Gore Ranges.
