From beautiful green parkland space to clubs steeped in the blues, Chicago is everyone’s kind of town!
Register for our free newsletterIN 1885, the world’s first skyscraper, the 10-storey Home Insurance Building, was erected in Chicago. Since then, the skyline has grown dramatically, with structures now looming 10 times as high. “Downtown was our playground,” says 67-year-old Lynn Hughes, recalling her youth growing up in Oak Park, one of the city’s 77 neighbourhoods. Back then, the 41-storey Prudential building reached furthest into the bright blue sky. The former teacher is one of around 200 greeters, who volunteer their services to, in Lynn’s words, “show off our city”. So why should people visit Chicago instead? Lynn doesn’t hesitate before answering: “Our city is the friendly, clean, affordable New York.” … [Read more...] about From beautiful green parkland space to clubs steeped in the blues, Chicago is everyone’s kind of town!

Why do airlines overbook flights, what are your rights if you can’t get a seat on the plane and how much compensation are you entitled to?
AIRLINES regularly overbook flights but the good news is, you could bag up to £7,700 for volunteering to give up your seat on a plane. Here's all you need to know about the pesky travel problem and how to claim back some cash... Why do airlines overbook flights? Most airlines intentionally overbook flights, selling more tickets than available seats for a journey. They do this anticipation of people "no-showing" on the day of the journey, and the practice is not illegal. Travel experts have warned that as many as 150 tickets are sold for every 100 seats available. British Airways previously admitted that it has overbooked around 500,000 seats in a single year, and it "bumps" around 24,000 customers during that time from flights. What happens if you are on an overbooked flight? When airlines have to remove passengers they start by asking for volunteers who are offered compensation usually in the form of money, a hotel room and a seat on the next available flight.
