On Saturday evening, Armenia and Turkey will square off with one another in their Euro 2024 qualifier in a clash that goes beyond the confines of football. The sides have only played each twice since Armenia's independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 - during the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. “This is only a football game, it is not a war. We cannot carry the weight of history on our shoulders," Fatih Terim told press ahead of the game. However, the two countries have no diplomatic relationship, and their 193-mile land border is closed.
