‘Triangle of Sadness’ Review: Ruben ?–stlund’s Latest Satire Puts Privilege Through the Wringer
Click here to read the full article. The closer you look at the subject of beauty, the uglier it appears. Meanwhile, wealth is obscene from practically every angle. Irreverent Swedish satirist Ruben Östlund gets right up in there, probing the pores of the elitist worlds of supermodels and the mega-rich in “ Triangle of Sadness ,” which takes its name from a fashion-world term for the deep-V crease that appears between one’s eyebrows with stress or age. Nothing a little Botox can’t fix. Östlund’s wickedly funny English-language follow-up to “The Square” features none of the same characters as his 2017 Palme d’Or winner, but follows much the same tactic of creating deeply uncomfortable situations for people more than comfortable with their privilege. It’s a Buñuelian strategy, à la “The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie,” of which Östlund has become art cinema’s foremost practitioner. His operating theory here, floated amid arguments about capitalism and Karl Marx, is that beauty … [Read more...] about ‘Triangle of Sadness’ Review: Ruben ?–stlund’s Latest Satire Puts Privilege Through the Wringer
Just Jane: ‘I sha***d my dream girl for 36 hours straight before she stole my cash and ran’
How do I track down the only woman I’ve ever loved? She and I spent two nights of bliss together in 2019. I was in a relationship, but I’m now single and desperate to be with my perfect stranger again. I’ve checked all the usual online socials and been back to the place we met. I’ve even spent weekends scouring the town she said she was from but to no avail. Ours was an unusual meeting. I was in a Manchester wine bar on a Friday night, meeting an important contact. We concluded our business in record time because he had to rush off, so I carried on drinking. The woman on the next table had been stood up and we got chatting. The spark was undeniable. An hour later we were in a cab to my hotel. For the next 36 hours we made love until we could hardly breathe – then did it all over again. We existed on room service, and the mini-bar, and my eventual bill was horrendous. She disappeared as I took a shower on the Sunday morning just before check-out. She’d previously said … [Read more...] about Just Jane: ‘I sha***d my dream girl for 36 hours straight before she stole my cash and ran’
New iOS software has feature that could END Venmo and CashApp for iPhone users
APPLE has launched an updated version of iOS that could steal a chunk of the mobile payments market from apps like Venmo and CashApp. iOS15.5 has brought changes to the Apple Wallet that simplify sending a friend or business money. Apple first stepped into the mobile payments space in 2014 with the launch of Apple Pay. In the years since, they've developed an integrated payments system featuring the Apple Wallet, Apple Card and Apple Cash. CNET described Apple Pay as the "linchpin" - the engine that drives the mobile payments network within Apple and eliminates the need for physical credit cards. Apple Pay users can input their credit card data and use their phone to execute transactions - with iOS15.5, Apple is eliminating clicks and streamlining the app to compete in the mobile pay market. Apple warns MILLIONS of iPhone owners to install urgent update right NOW
APPLE has warned iPhone owners to update their handsets after uncovering more than 25 security issues on iOS. The tech giant has pushed out its latest version, iOS 15.5, in a bid to protect people from potential cyber attacks . Many of the bugs could allow an application to execute "arbitrary code", a technique hackers use to run dodgy tasks on a victim's phone. Most of the vulnerabilities are hunted out by external experts and anonymous researchers. The reason Apple list so many routinely is because they are kept a closely guarded secret until a fix is found, to prevent cyber crooks from taking advantage of them any further. "For our customers' protection, Apple doesn't disclose, discuss, or confirm security issues until an investigation has occurred and patches or releases are available," Apple said.
